Michigan State Football at Nebraska Cornhuskers gets kickoff time
Michigan State kicks off at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on FS1 when it visits Nebraska on Oct. 4.
The Michigan State Spartans have their kickoff time finally set for their visit in Week Six to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln. The Oct. 4 matchup will start at 4 p.m. Eastern Time and be broadcast on FS1.
It will be a second straight game for MSU on the road while both the Huskers and Spartans will enter the game coming off a bye week following losses in Week Four.
MSU will enter the matchup 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten following a tough road loss at then No. 25 USC. The 45-32 defeat was the Spartans first loss on the year following a perfect 3-0 record in non-conference play to start the year. The game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln will be the first trip there for MSU since 2018, a 9-6 loss in the cold and windy snow of mid-November. Both programs have since changed coaching staff since then, twice in the case of the Spartans.
UNL will continue a homestand when it hosts MSU and similarly stands at 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten. The Huskers dropped their conference opener at home to then No. 21 Michigan this past Saturday, 30-27. The loss marked a sixth straight Big Ten opener defeat for UNL and a 28th straight loss to a top 25 opponent. While the Huskers technically played what was considered an away game to open their season against Cincinnati, the athletic department managed to sway the Bearcats with a big payday to move the game to Arrowhead Stadium which gave it a decidedly home-field environment and have otherwise not played a road game this season to date.
While MSU trails in the series with UNL overall at 4-9, it stands at a tie at 4-4 in Big Ten play. The Spartans will look to rebound back into the win column when they visit Lincoln and keep alive a two-game win streak in the series that dates back to Sept. 25, 2021 when a 23-20 overtime victory in Spartan Stadium snapped a two-game losing streak to UNL. MSU also defeated the Huskers Nov. 4, 2023 20-17 in East Lansing in what would be the first of only two wins under interim head coach Harlon Barnett that season for the Spartans.
