Michigan State versus Michigan kickoff time is finally announced for NBC Primetime
Kick time is set for the battle for Paul Bunyan.
Michigan State is set to host archrival Michigan on Saturday with the network executives finally being kind enough to allow fans to plan their lives by graciously waiting until the last possible moment allowed to them to reveal what time the game will be allowed to start at for next to no benefit in ratings bumps. Yet again MSU will be hosting UM in primetime at Spartan Stadium with kick set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time with the game being broadcast on NBC's Big Ten Saturday night slot.
The rivalry game will play for the Paul Bunyan Trophy in its 73rd matchup for the four-foot wooden statute donated by then-Governor G. Mennen Williams after MSU joined the Big Ten Conference despite Michigan's fervent efforts to block its membership. The Wolverines lead the trophy series 41-29-2, and also hold a 74-38-5 lead in the entire series history when accounting for the decades it was almost always held exclusively in Ann Arbor before 1953. Since 2000, UM holds a narrow 13-12 edge in the series.
Michigan State will look to get back in the win column after its fourth-straight loss in Big Ten play. The Spartans fell 38-13 at No. 3 Indiana on Saturday. MSU has now not won a game since it finished non-conference play last month undefeated and sits at 3-4 overall.
Michigan is coming off a 24-7 victory over Washington at home. The Wolverines now sit at 5-2 overall and hold a 3-1 mark in league play.
The game will mark the fourth-straight primetime matchup in the series with the last daytime game being played in 2021. That matchup between top-10 teams was also in East Lansing and marks the last time MSU won in the series.
