Michigan State Week Three availability report
MSU's Week Three availability report against Youngstown State. The Spartans may be getting back key defensive starter Nikai Martinez.
Michigan State is hosting Youngstown State on Saturday, Sept.13, with a 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff time. This game will be the Spartans' third and final non-conference matchup for the season, before they head into Big Ten play on the road at USC in Week Four.
Michigan State may be getting a key defensive starter back, with safety Nikai Martinez, who was on the injury report list for the first two games of the 2025 season, not listed this week. Martinez is a senior defensive back for the Spartans, who started all 12 games in 2024 at safety.
As Spartans Illustrated previously reported, sophomore cornerback Andrew Brinson IV is out for the 2025 season. Meanwhile, redshirt sophomore defensive back and special teamer Caleb Gash is also out for the season. An MSU spokesperson confirmed both season-ending injuries on Saturday.
Other players the green and white will miss against Youngstown State include redshirt sophomore kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic, redshirt junior offensive lineman Ashton Lepo and fifth-year senior defensive lineman Jalen Satchell. Satchell has been out for the past two weeks as well.
