Ohio 2027 three-star QB Eli Stumpf commits to Michigan State
Michigan State has a pledge from its preferred quarterback in the 2027 class. More here.
Michigan State has found its quarterback for the 2027 class, as three-star Ohio signal-caller Eli Stumpf committed to the Spartans on Tuesday.
Stumpf, who currently attends Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio was a priority target for the Spartans. MSU offered him a scholarship on Feb. 22 and quickly worked to bring him to campus. Stumpf was in East Lansing on Tuesday for Michigan State's first practice of the 2026 spring ball calendar. He saw all he needed to see to know that he wanted to become a Spartan.
In addition to Michigan State, Stumpf has received scholarship offers from Toledo, Kent State and Cornell.
As a junior in 2025, Stumpf completed 69% of is passes for 2,436 yards and 31 touchdowns.
According to the On3/Rivals Industry rankings, Stumpf ranks as the No. 1,124 prospect overall, No. 75 quarterback and No. 44 recruit in Ohio. He has not yet been evaluated by 247Sports.
Stumpf possesses the coveted size for a quarterback at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds. His arm talent stands out, but his accuracy with ball placement is just as impressive.
Away from the football field, Stumpf is also a standout basketball player for Big Walnut.
Following Stumpf's commitment, Michigan State now has three pledges in its 2027 class. He joins fellow three-star offensive lineman Grant Adloff and three-star running back Savior Owens.
When Stumpf arrives to East Lansing in 2027, he will play under head coach Pat Fitzgerald, offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan and quarterbacks coach John McNulty, among others.
Michigan State's 2027 quarterbacks room is expected to include presumed 2026 starter Alessio Milivojevic, Leo Hannan, Kayd Coffman, Peyton Babbitt and Stumpf, but transfer portal movement is always possible.
