Michigan State finishes second at Big Ten Gymnastics Championships
For the fifth consecutive season, the Spartans finished top two in the conference
Michigan State didn’t flinch, fade, or get overwhelmed by the moment. It just ran into an historic performance in Champaign, Illinois at the Big Ten Gymnastics Championships.
No. 11 Michigan State delivered another championship-caliber showing Saturday night inside State Farm Center, posting a 197.475 to finish second at the Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships. As a program that has climbed into national relevance over the last several years, it marked a fifth consecutive top-two finish at the conference meet.
And yet, even that wasn’t enough to catch UCLA.
The Bruins, in their second year in the conference, turned in a 198.100 – one of the highest scores in Big Ten Championships history and just the fifth ever to break the 198 barrier – to claim both the meet title and their second straight regular-season crown.
