Michigan State football received a commitment from a familiar player in Michigan transfer junior wide receiver Fredrick Moore. He pledged to the Spartans on Jan. 9, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

The 6-foot-1, 181-pound Moore visited MSU on Jan. 8 and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

A former three-star recruit and early 2022 high school graduate from Cardinal Ritter College Prep in St. Louis, Missouri, Moore received offers from more than 20 FBS schools, with one of those offers being from Michigan State. Receiving an offer from MSU his junior year of high school, Moore showed high interest in the Spartans after taking his official visit that spring, but elected to sign with the Wolverines instead soon after.

During his senior year with Cardinal Ritter, Moore registered 67 receptions for 1,504 yards and 24 touchdowns in his 2022 season. After signing with Michigan following the end of his senior high school campaign, he enrolled in classes at UM in January 2023.

As a true freshman, Moore appeared in all 13 games. Earning his first varsity letter that year, he recorded four receptions for 32 yards in 2023. Moore was named Offensive Freshman of the Week three times that year for his performance against East Carolina, Bowling Green and at Nebraska. He also contributed on special teams, and was twice named as Special Teams Freshman of the Game following his performance against Indiana and at Minnesota.

In 2024, Moore again appeared in all 13 games and started at wide receiver in three contests as a sophomore. His most impressive collegiate season thus far, Moore recorded 11 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown, five rushes for 28 yards, and also made three tackles on special teams. He shared Offensive Player of the Game honors for his performances against Arkansas State and USC and was named Special Teams Player of the Game for his performance against Arkansas State.

During the 2025 season, Moore didn't record any offensive stats, but registered one tackle against New Mexico. He left the Wolverine football program in mid-October seeking a new opportunity and entered the transfer portal when it officially opened. He only played in four games in 2025 (18 offensive snaps and 45 offensive snaps on specials teams) and was able to preserve his redshirt.

Career Stat Totals:

  • 30 games played

  • 15 receptions

  • 160 receiving yards

  • One receiving touchdown

  • Five rushes for 28 yards

  • Four total tackles

As Moore makes his way back to a familiar place in East Lansing — this time a Spartan — he will be working primarily with wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins. Of course, Moore has a prior relationship with the wide receivers coach as Hawkins recruited him out of high school as part of the MSU staff that was then led by head coach Mel Tucker.

Now, Moore will suit up in the Green and White in 2026, and possibly beyond, under the guidance of Hawkins, head coach Pat Fitzgerald, offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan and the rest of the Michigan State staff.

Moore's unique skill set, speed and ability to play in the slot or on the outside will allow him to compete for a starting wide receiver role or rotational role at the position in 2026. He also brings value on special teams.

With Moore's pledge, the Spartans now have 21 public transfer portal commits in 2026. Track all of the incoming players to MSU here.
