Michigan State receives preferred walk-on commitment from long snapper Trey Serauskis
Class of 2026 five-star long snapper Trey Serauskis committed to the MSU as a PWO. He is an All-American. More here.
Michigan State football looks to build its special teams units with its latest commitment from class of 2026 long snapper Trey Serauskis. He received an offer from MSU as a preferred walk-on and will play under head coach Pat Fitzgerald and assistant head coach/special teams coordinator LeVar Woods throughout his college career.
An Illinois native, Serauskis is listed as a five-star long snapper, according to Rubio Long Snapping, and ranks No. 4 nationally. Meanwhile, the 247Sports Composite rankings list him as a three-star prospect and the No. 2 long snapper in the 2026 class. Serauskis was also selected for the Navy All-American Bowl in January 2026.
He is expected to graduate from Lincoln-Way East High School (Frankfort, Illinois) this spring and will find his next home in East Lansing with former Lincoln-Way East star player and current Spartan running back Zion Gist for the 2026 season.
Receiving multiple offers from Division I programs, Serauskis originally committed to Toledo last summer, but opened his recruitment again in September of 2025. According to 247Sports, Serauskis received additional offers to play at Arkansas, Louisville (PWO), San Diego State (PWO) and Eastern Illinois. He also made visits to Iowa and Illinois during the 2025 season, but ultimately found his school of choice with Michigan State.
He now has an opportunity to showcase his talents for the Spartans and will develop under Woods, who is widely regarded as one of the best special teams coaches in the country, for the upcoming season. As mentioned, Serauskis previously visited Iowa during the 2025 season, which is where Woods coached at before being hired by Michigan State for the 2026 season. Also of note, when Serauskis was committed to Toledo, current MSU general manager Bryan Gasser served in the same role for the Rockets.
Serauskis received praise at the Rubio Long Snapper camp in Las Vegas last summer, breaking records at the position and nearly hitting a 50-yard snap while recording snap-speeds well under 0.75 seconds, per the Rubio Standard Index (RSI). With a decorated high school resume, he earned a top-12 spot at the position.
As Serauskis prepares for his next endeavor at Michigan State, he will look to add competition to the position heading into the next campaign. The Spartans are still expected to add another long snapper through the transfer portal.
Meanwhile, former 2026 long snapper commit Zach Curtis decommitted from the program on Jan.15 and the Spartans lost two long snappers to the transfer portal this cycle in Jack Wills (committed to Nebraska) and Kaden Schickel (committed to Vanderbilt).
