Aidan Chiles looks to flip the script against Boston College

Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles threw 11 interceptions in 2024, and three of them came against Boston College on Sept. 21, 2024. He finished the game with 241 passing yards on 17-of-35 passing, as well as 61 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, to go along with those three picks.

MSU led 13-6 at halftime, but didn’t score a touchdown in the second half and lost 23-19 following a game-winning Boston College touchdown with 1:28 left in the game.

Now, nearly a year later, Chiles has a chance for redemption as the Spartans host Boston College on Saturday, looking to start the season 2-0. However, the junior quarterback doesn’t feel like he has anything to prove.

“I just got to go out and play my game,” Chiles said. “Last week (against Western Michigan) we didn’t execute in the second half, so (we’re) just looking to build on that, truly going out and showing what we can do as a team as a whole.”

Turnovers were an issue for Chiles last season, and they were a major factor in Michigan State’s narrow 23-19 loss to Boston College in 2024. In the season opener, Chiles was able to avoid giving up the football through the air, but coughed up the pigskin twice. Fortunately for him, the Broncos only recovered one of Chiles’s fumbles.

“I just liked that I was keeping the ball out of harm's way,” Chiles said about his takeaways from studying the film from the win over Western Michigan last week. “Just not trying to force things … just going out there and trying to play mistake-free football.”
