Despite adversity, Quindarius Dunnigan and the Spartans still believe
Graduate senior and captain Quindarius Dunnigan has a voice in the locker room, and he is not afraid to use it
Quindarius Dunnigan’s career has been anything but smooth sailing. He has had to deal with adversity throughout his seven-year college football career. Dunnigan started his college career at Middle Tennessee State University in 2019. After redshirting his freshman season, Dunnigan took just over 100 snaps in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
Dunnigan’s career then took a turn for the worse when he suffered a season-ending injury which forced him to miss the entire 2021 season. Starting with his redshirt sophomore year, he saw a lot more on-the-field action which eventually garnered the attention of the Michigan State coaching staff. But he hasn't played on a team that finished with a winning record since 2022. Even so, the bond between his current teammates feels different.
"I've seen a lot of adversity in my life," Dunnigan explained. "But the biggest thing is just how guys can continue to grow closer together, especially when things aren't going well. I've been a part of a finger-pointing atmosphere, and we really don’t have that kind of atmosphere here.”
So far, the Michigan State season has not gone quite as well as hoped. The loss to UCLA on homecoming was a splash of cold water on the fanbase. It's natural that some of those bad vibes might have seeped into the locker room as well. But according to Dunnigan, the Spartans are keeping the faith.
