Despite win, Tom Izzo is unimpressed: 'We have a lot of work to do'
(At least the Spartans are 1-0)
The Michigan State men’s basketball team kicked off the regular season Monday night with an 80-69 victory at home against Colgate, but had you spoken only with Tom Izzo following the game, you might have walked away thinking the Spartans had suffered a defeat.
“I am not happy with the way we played at UConn, and I am not happy with the way we played today,” assessed Izzo. “I thought (Colgate) played better (than us), and I don't think we played very well. We have a lot of work to do.”
Izzo isn’t panicking, but he is mad.
Izzo’s ire seems to rest on the shoulders of the players who can take it, his veterans.
“I don't like the fact that I have some upperclassmen that didn't play as good as they should play,” said Izzo. “We have four players that are veterans that are here. Three of them aren't playing very good right now.”
