Izzo reflects on loyalty, growth as Spartans send seniors out with 91–87 win
After MSU's win on senior night, Tom Izzo praised his four-year veterans while highlighting Coen Carr’s performance
While celebrating the 2025–26 senior class on Thursday night, the Michigan State Spartans pulled out a 91–87 victory over a crafty Rutgers team. It wasn’t without some drama. The Scarlet Knights went on a 9–0 run late to tighten the game just as the five seniors were preparing to take part in the traditional kiss-the-logo ceremony.
“The disappointing thing for me was that I thought I didn’t have many guys who played well,” Izzo said. “But I would like to single out Cam Ward – I think he had a great game. I really thought Denham Wojcik had a great, great game, and Coen Carr had a very, very good game. Jeremy had a good half. Jaxon [Kohler] and [Carson] Cooper had some good moments.”
Honoring the seniors
As is tradition, fans stayed after the game to honor the five seniors – Jaxon Kohler, Carson Cooper, Nick Sanders, Denham Wojcik, and Trey Fort.
