Jordan Hall on Boston College rematch: "We're a new team"
Hall says this team is different, and ready.
Michigan State gets another shot against Boston College this weekend, and Jordan Hall is ready. The junior linebacker is coming off a career-best game against Western Michigan, having posted eight tackles and a seven-yard sack against the Broncos. Hall doubled his previous single-game high of four tackles (Boston College, Rutgers) from last season. He says the Spartans are focused on execution, not revenge, as they aim to flip the script from last year.
Remembering Last Season
This weekend, Michigan State welcomes BC to East Lansing in a game that carries plenty of meaning after last year’s loss in Chestnut Hill. Hall insists he isn’t letting emotions dictate his preparation.
“Never have too much emotion and never have too little emotion no matter the opponent," Hall said. "That’s just my approach. It definitely takes some growing and some getting used to, but I’ve just found that it helps me prepare.”
Still, it will be hard to ignore the ending in last season's road matchup. With 88 seconds left to play, Eagles quarterback Thomas Castellanos, quiet for much of the night, hit receiver Lewis Bond for a 40-yard completion through the middle of the Spartans’ defense. MSU never answered, running out of time.
The Spartans have had 349 days to move past it. Castellanos is now at Florida State, but BC appears to have its replacement in Dylan Lonergan. Last week, Lonergan threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns in a 66-point showing against Fordham. The Eagles ran the ball 39 times for just shy of 100 yards. Bond also had a great night, catching the ball 11 times for 138 yards. The opponent may not have been imposing, but the performance still caught attention.
