Michigan State offers 2027 in-state OT Jack Carlson: 'Out of this world'
Rising class of 2027 three-star offensive lineman Jack Carlson reflects on his scholarship offer from MSU and details his latest visit to East Lansing.
For the second time during the 2025 season, and fifth time in the past two years, class of 2027 three-star offensive tackle Jack Carlson made his way to East Lansing to visit Michigan State. However, his most recent visit, which took place this past Saturday when MSU faced off against Penn State, was the most special one yet.
The Brighton High School (Michigan) athlete left campus with a scholarship offer from the Spartans. Every offer that Carlson receives is meaningful, but this one is especially unique, as he is an in-state kid who has grown up rooting for MSU.
Michigan State offensive line coach and run game coordinator Jim Michalczik has been monitoring Carlson since last year and decided to extend the offer to the Brighton product this past weekend. That is a moment that Carlson will never forget.
"Out of this world," Carlson told Spartans Illustarted when asked what the offer from MSU meant to him. "I’m very grateful for every offer I’ve earned. But growing up an MSU fan, and (receiving) an offer in my home state, it just means more."
As for the visit itself, it wasn't necessarily anything Carlson wasn't already used to after previously visiting for Michigan State's homecoming game against UCLA on Oct. 11, but the offer and his in-depth conversations with the coaches and staff members made this trip stand out.
