Michigan State vs Michigan Preview

The Michigan State Spartans are in the middle of a disappointing stretch where they have lost 4 straight games, putting their record at 3-4 on the year. Things don’t get any easier for them, as their rival, The Michigan Wolverines, come to East Lansing this weekend. 

With the noise at a fever pitch around those doubting coach Jonathan Smith and his team, this Saturday’s game provides an excellent opportunity to change the narrative and turn the season around.

Michigan Notables

The Wolverines are off to a 5-2 start and coming off a victory at home versus the Washington Huskies. Michigan is 3-1 in conference play and are ranked No. 25 according to the AP Poll. 

The Wolverines bring in a fairly balanced offense, led by their rushing attack. Lead running back Justice Hayes has been one of the country’s finest, totaling 705 yards and eight touchdowns on 95 carries this year. He, however, was injured in Michigan's loss vs USC and missed the game versus Washington. His status for the game is currently unknown. 

In Haye’s absence, running back Jordan Marshall held his own, rushing for over 200 yards over the last two games. It will be vital for Michigan State to slow down the Wolverine’s rushing attack.
