Michigan State players are prepared for Duke to come to East Lansing
The Spartans take on the Blue Devils at the Breslin Center in a top-10 matchup.
The last time the Duke Blue Devils arrived to the Breslin Center, it was a historic day in 2019. Draymond Green was set to have his jersey retired. Coach Mike Krzyzewski, a Hall-of-Fame coach and friend/rival of Tom Izzo, was on his retirement tour, and this was the first time the Blue Devils were stepping foot inside the Breslin Center.
The game did not go the way the sold out crowd home crowd had hoped, ending with a final score of 85-76 in favor of Duke.
Fast forward to 2025, about an hour after Michigan State defeated Iowa this past Tuesday night, 71-52, the focus shifted to the Spartans' upcoming matchup, the second in the home-and-home series with Duke, on Saturday afternoon.
Veteran junior forward Coen Carr shared that prep for the Blue Devils began right then. The team's mentality had already shifted to the next opponent, and although the Spartans were happy about securing their first Big Ten of the season after defeating the Hawkeyes, all eyes were focused on what was coming next.
"We just have to come ready to play," Carr started. "I feel like if we come ready and play how we know we can play — aggressive, tough, run, rebound, defend (then good things will happen). This is definitely a big game, and we just have to play our style of basketball."
