“We Can’t Go Out This Way”: Jaxon Kohler’s late-season challenge to MSU Basketball
With only a handful of games remaining in his college career, Kohler is focused on urgency and accountability
Late February is when college careers start to feel finite for seniors.
For Jaxon Kohler, that reality is no longer abstract. It is immediate and it is personal.
And after another uneven performance against Ohio State that produced more frustration than satisfaction, he put words to what has been building beneath the surface.
“We can’t go out this way.”
He was not referring to a loss. He was talking about the way this team has performed in stretches – the inconsistency, the uneven halves, the inability to sustain the level of play that everyone inside the program knows is possible.
“Being a senior, now being in this position, I know what those three years were like when you put everything out there,” Kohler said. “You need to make sure that everybody has that same level of accountability.”
That sense of accountability is what he kept returning to as he leaned back in his chair and talked in the locker room at Breslin.
